This polished stainless Bronx Desk is identical to this one, except the ash hardwood top was painted black instead of being stained. The black lacquered ash hardwood top is 84″ x 40″, and has polished stainless trim around the edge with bolted corners. This feature isn’t just for looks, it protects the wood top from dents like a chair arm might make.
The dual crank wheels are chrome plated and are used to raise and lower the top from 30″ to 42″, making this a sit stand desk, or a dining to bar height table. The adjustment makes the table more much versatile, and we’ve had clients use these for kitchen islands too since they also hit counter height. The mechanisms that raise and lower the top are rated to 5 tons each, and are meant for 24/7 industrial use, so they’ll definitely hold up over time, and are serviceable with Zerk fittings.
Our Bronx tables normally have 200+ rivets set in the base, but these one uses stainless acorn nuts to achieve a slightly different look. We used to chrome plate these bases, but opted to switch to solid stainless with a polished finish. It not only looks better, but should last much longer over the next few centuries. Imperfections over time in the base, like scratches, can be polished out to the original finish.
The designer was inspired by an archway in France back in 2012, and soon after the shop created the first Bronx with an aged red finish > https://www.retro.net/portfolio/bronx-table-reclaimed-boxcar-oak-top-model-bx9/
