We’ve been chroming our tables for years now. After having delays and environmental problems, we decided to abandon chroming steel, and started making these out of stainless steel and polishing them. The result is a superior look and increased longevity down the road. Chrome can eventually peel and or rust, and doesn’t have quite the finish of stainless. If scratched or dented, stainless can be buffed out since it’s solid all the way through. This Bronx Desk was a lot of work, but we are extremely happy with the results. The adjustable height mechanism works flawlessly, and the finish is even better in person than the pictures.
This desk has an 84″ x 40″ Ash hardwood top with a medium stain and matte clear coat. We added two stainless drawers to match the base and provide work storage. The height adjusts from 30″ to 42″ and is adjusted by cranking one of the two chrome hand wheels. The top is finished with our standard metal trim and bolted corners, but in matching polished stainless. While our steel Bronx is built to last a couple hundred years or more, the stainless version should have no problem lasting 1000.
